What are neuromodulators?
Neuromodulators like Botox and Xeomin are injectable treatments that temporarily relax targeted facial muscles to smooth wrinkles and fine lines. They work by blocking nerve signals to these muscles, reducing their activity while maintaining a natural look.
How do neuromodulators work?
Neuromodulators contain botulinum toxin, a purified protein that blocks nerve signals to specific muscles. This relaxation of the muscles reduces their contraction, which is responsible for dynamic wrinkles (those formed by repeated facial expressions, such as frowning or squinting). The skin above these muscles smooths out, resulting in a refreshed, youthful appearance.
